This section provides information on how to install CommitCRM for network usage. Installation takes just a few minutes, and you can be up and running in no time.
Where should the Commit software be located when using Commit on the network?
Commit should be installed in a shared folder on your server that is accessible to all users who work with the application. All client applications will be launched from this shared folder. There is no need to install the full Commit system on each client PC.
Server-side Installation
The Commit installation process is completed in a few simple steps:
| 1. | Download — Make sure you have downloaded the latest CommitCRM setup file from here.
|
| 2. | Create a shared folder — Create a shared folder on the server, or on any computer that acts as a server and can be accessed over the network. Note that all network users must have full access rights and privileges (add/update/delete) to this shared folder.
|
| 3. | Install — Launch the Commit setup file. You may do this from the server itself or from a client PC that has full access to the shared folder created in the previous step. |
Follow the steps provided by the installation program:
Step 1, server components installation: In this step you will be asked where to install the Commit files. You should select the shared folder you have created for this purpose. The installation program will then install the server files into this folder.
Step 2, local client installation: The installation program will now create a shortcut from which to run the client application program. Click 'Next' to install the client application shortcut
The server-side installation is now complete.
Installation on Additional Client PCs
To install the CommitCRM client application on any other PC in your network, launch the CommitCRM client installation from:
\\<shared-server-folder>\Commit\Utils\Install\InstallClient.exe
Please note…
| • | You need to install the full Commit system just once—on the server (or dedicated PC). To install the system on the client PC, just follow the client application shortcut installed with the initial installation. |
| • | Each Windows user who runs CommitCRM client should have all rights and privileges (add/update/delete) to the shared network folder. Without these privileges, the user will not be able to log in to the system or update information in the database. |
Done! You can now start working with Commit.
