How do I restore a backup?

Top  Previous  Next

When a restore is required, simply restore all files from your backup.

Restore from full backup
The easiest restore option is using a full backup of the Commit installation folder. If you have a backup of the Commit folder and sub folders, please follow these instructions to recover from this backup. This includes restoring the files and installing any services if they were used.

Note: To be on the safe side, do not delete or overwrite existing files but rather move them to another location before extracting all files from the backup.

Restore from partial backup (database files only)
I case you have a backup of the database folders only (\DB and \DBSys), you should reinstall Commit from scratch, and then replace the database folder with the ones from your backup:

1. Download and install a fresh trial version of Commit. Make sure to use the exact same version as you have been using until now, otherwise there will be version mismatch when restoring the database.

2. Install it to the original path were Commit was installed on your server

3. Run the Commit application once (use any fictive user as this is a fresh setup)

4. Close CommitCRM session

5. Rename the <server>\Commit\Db folder to   Db-Not-In-Use

6. Rename the <server>\Commit\DbSys folder to   DbSys-Not-In-Use

7. From the backup, copy the Db and DbSys folders to <server>\Commit\Db   and  <server>\Commit\DbSys

Commit will now be ready for you at the exact point to when the backup was done.
