I've seen my fair share of malware and i use a variety of tools to detect and remove infections from one of the handiest tools is Combofix, i find it to be amoung one of the most useful tools.

I'm wondering what other people are using?

I like to use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. It finds what a lot of other malware solutions miss.

But Malwarebytes don't do such a good job with the rogue scareware.

Combofix is the most powerful tool for rootkits and the Fake Antivirus software we have ever used. We still like Spybot-search and Destroy as well.

I agree, I'm actually very disappointed that the top rated Anti-Virus applications do such a poor job of protecting users from threats and if the machine is infected removing the threat.

Meanwhile a tool like combofix comes along and is more powerful than all the commerically availabile solutions.

We also use combofix. Lately we have been using Kaspersky's TDSSKiller app since a large persentage of malware is TDSS based and it is so fast at detecting and removing the rootkit.
