Importing assets into different accounts

We have a spreadsheet with Asset details, including the account they belong to. But how do I import assets and get them assigned to the correct account?

The import process only seems to allow all Assets to be imported under no account or a single account. I thought about importing them under no account, with the account name imported into a custom field, but still can't figure out if there is a way to then move them to the right account.

If your spreadsheet also includes the Account RecordID field (an internal identified which you can see on the Notes tab in the Accounts window) then when you import, the Assets will be assigned to the correct Accounts. When importing with the Account RecordID just select 'do not link imported assets to account' and then map the Account to the relevant column in the spreadsheet.

You can also change the Account for an Asset at any time from the General tab.

Make sure to take a backup before importing anything.
