Another thing I just thought of...

What about colors for Accounts in stead of (or as well as for Employees)

My ultimate wish would be the ability to set a color filter so that if certain words (such as routine maintenance, emergency, remote, etc...) are in the title of the appointment, they get colored appropriately.

Yeah, having flexible coloring options is something we are still thinking of. Not sure how the best implementation would be, however, it's something to think about. anyway, in version 5.0, you have the new "colors per employee" which I believe are a great step forward, and something which has been requested by many RangerMSP users.
