How can we enter the new equipment as item, and then add new asset from that, and only that specific item? Now, the same thing can have different names in Items and Assets.

Each Item should have only once instance. Once you actually sell the equipment to a customer, you can create a Charge, which is linked to the Item, and contains the specific price, quantity, etc. for this specific customer. This way you have a "specific item" for this customer.

If you want to track the sold Item (not all Items are big enough to be tracked), you should open an Asset under the customer Account.

In our coming release (version 4.3) you will be able to create an Asset from a Charge, which will automatically copy the Charge (including the Item) information into the newly create Asset, and you will be able to edit the information as you wish.
