If a customer brings there computer in the shop for repair, what is the best way to sign it in? I would want a print out to leave on the computer when it is in the shop, and like a drop off reciept for the customer. Possible?

Thanks

You need to open a service Ticket for this computer repair.

1. Open the Tickets Window and click New (or select File > New > Ticket).
2. The New-Ticket window is now displayed.
3. Select the Customer Account. In case this is a new customer, click on the + icon/button near the Account field to add the new Customer to your database.
4. Write the problem description for this repair - "computer doesn't start", "Hardware failure", etc.

In case you want to track your customer Assets and device service history continue to 5 -

5. Select the Asset record (hardware/software) the repair is related to. If the computer has already been repair before or has been purchased from you, simply select it from the Asset drop down list. Or, if you don't have an Asset record for this computer yet, click the + button near the Asset field to add it.

Click OK to confirm the new repair service ticket.

You will now see the full Ticket details window. You can print one of the Ticket details forms and attach it to the computer and/or hand it to the customer (use the print preview option on the toolbar, select the format you want to print from the drop down list, you can also designed your own forms/reports layouts). Have a look at the Tech Service Forms and other formats.

While/after fixing the computer you should add Charges records for work performed and parts replaced.

When the customer is back to pick up the computer, print a service form that includes the service repair details and lists the worked performed and parts replaced (Charges).
For example you can print the Technician Service Form including Charges report and have your customer sign it (there is a place for the customer signature on this layout).

In case you use QuickBooks, you can also easily generate a QuickBooks Invoice right within RangerMSP for this specific repair - when viewing the Ticket details click the QB icon/button on the toolbar.
