Any way to hide completed/Suspened Contracts?

Is there any way to hide completed or suspended contracts from being available for selection. We have contracts that are monthly and so we renew every month. By the end of a three year term there are so many contracts in the drop down list to choose from. Any suggestions on this or is there any way to hide them from selection menus?
