Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy

Anyone filed or been filed on?

I want to get a domain cyber-squatter out of my hair (A crappy local competitor)

They registered a domain that is a typo of ours and we have people call us from time to time to ask if we changed our company name and address. (It redirects visitors to their website)

Is the process effective / worth it?

Its $1300 just to file.

would probably be cheaper, less headache, and easier to contact them and start by asking nicely to sell you the domain name. or get a lawyer involved and have then send a letter requesting the sale of the domain name if that doesnt work

I would contact a lawyer and get them to send a cease and desist letter. This should be sufficient to scare them away and hand over the domain name to yourself. If you have your company name trademarked then you are entitled to enforce your trademark against typo-squatters.

I did that already. They wouldn't sign for the certified mail. So i axed it over, no response.

I then called them and they wanted 15K to sell it to me.

So i've already paid the lawyer x amount and now i'm on two step 2.

Follow up

The case was decided in our favor and the domain has been transferred over to us.
