hi all,

browsing the NAS market for a small business client so budget an issue. Data storage requirements around the 1TB level. Want to do RAID5 so 4 bays minimum. Needs to have AD integration.

So far am looking at the ReadyNAS NV+ or the Thecus N4200 with 4x500Gb drives. This is about the upper limit of the budget.

Any experiences or suggestions?

cheers

got a spare pc? Either Freenas or openfiler. Open filer is better if you have active directory running! I have just finished my openfiler and pleased with it

We use HP ProLiant http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en...1-3884339.html DL180 servers with openfiler. They have a lot of expandability and awesome reliability.

We use a Buffalo 2 drive system with RAID1. 2 X 2TB. Interface is easy. We started imaging all drives that came in due to people saving stuff on the Root of C:\

I use a 4TB buffalo NAS in mirror as an additional backup for my raid 5 server. Buffalo has work perfect for over 2 years with zero faults.
