I just ran the V25 upgrade. We thought everything went smooth, until staff started saying the web interface was down.

Hmm, lets make sure the service is running. Its gone.

We have upgrades for years and never had a service removed. I assume it was upgraded so we run the InstallServerSideWindowsServices program like the wiki says.

Setup program runs, says its finished, and now the service is back, but no web interface. No web interface by going to 172.0.0.1 either.

I am hoping this didnt wipe out anything in IIS. Getting commit to work with the SSL cert was a pain in the.

What should we do next?

Thanks for asking. Some of the file names have changed, so we're pretty sure the services are running, look for 'CRM...' in the list. When it comes to IIS, it should work as well, though a small filename configuration change would be required. Once you visit the Web interface you should see a page with exact instructions of what file to change. In any case, should it be required, feel free to share your log files with us so we'll be able to provide you with more specific input.

Thanks!

Everything worked swell with CommitCRM service and CommitCRM.dll. Can you share the reason the name had to be changed, causing the need to reconfigure IIS once the upgrade had completed? Surely there must be a good reason, private labeling in mind for a big client? Company up for sale or purchased already and preparing for the name to change?

Thank you for posting, these are interesting ideas :-) Anyhow - some/many of our partners that use the app with IIS and enabled the customer portal feature, did not like to share this "branded" URL with their customers, so that's solved. It's also shorter now, easier to remember and everything is aligned, which is always a plus! Thanks.

This will be a little safer than CommitCRM showing in the address bar...

Indeed. It is already working like this starting in version 25 of RangerMSP.

IIS manager on the server will not open. It wont open from computer manager, wont open from \inetserv\inetmgr.exe, and wont open from administrative tools. Run as admin doesnt work either.

The only thing on the server that uses IIS is CommitCRM. I haven't opened IIS since the last cert renewal.

Could the upgrade have done something to IIS?

The version upgrade does not affect IIS in any way whatsoever.

Please check whether the IIS Manager process (\inetserv\inetmgr.exe) is running in the background and if so, maybe try to close it via Task Manager.

You may also try to restart the server, and maybe review the Windows Event Log...

Hope this helps.
