Modifying Commit Standalone Installation to Network/Server Based Installation

Note: The instructions below apply to installation of Commit version 3.7 and up.

If your copy of Commit is currently installed on a standalone workstation you want to transfer it to a server so you can share and manage Commit data with other workstations on your network please follow the instructions below:

1. Backup ALL the Commit server files including ALL SUB FOLDERS. On a standalone installation this is usually C:\Commit. Please make sure no one is using Commit while backing up.
2. Copy ALL the Commit server files (usually C:\Commit. on a standalone installation) together with ALL subfolders and files to a shared folder on your server to whom all the network workstations and user have full access rights.
3. On the standalone workstation rename the Commit folder name to Commit-OLD (Usually c:\Commit to c:\Commit-OLD)
4. On the original standalone workstation run the following installation file: <server>\Commit\Utils\Install\InstallClient.exe
5. To install Commit client on other network workstations run the following installation file: <server>\Commit\Utils\Install\InstallClient.exe

Note: If you use the Commit Web Interface then you should uninstall it from the local workstation and install it on the server.
